to Make Your Own Wood Pellets, choose the material you need. the materials you can use to make pellets are wood, straw, corn, yard waste just to name a few. Reduce the size of the material you chose to a smaller size. material should be small enough to fit into the die hole.

dry the material until it has 15-20 percent moisture content. If you find it difficult to dry, leave the material out in the sun until it reaches the desired consistency.  it is important that 15 to 20 percent moisture remain in the material to form the pelleting. If the material is to dry, add water to the content to make sure it is at the 15-20 percent moisture content level.

after the product is dried to the desired level, add a binding agent like vegetable oil, cornstarch or flour and mix the two substances together. This helps the substance stay together.

make sure the substance is compacted together, and place the compacted substance into a mill. the mill roller will roll across the substance and force the pellets into the mill die. after mill is stop, the next step is cooling the pelts but be careful because they will still be hot. spread the pellets out and let them air dry.
